StartXchange updated their surf bar

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

So the new trend with traffic exchange surf bars is to add the member’s photo. Advertising Know How did it first a couple of weeks ago. I’m sure we’ll start seeing this in more and more exchanges as it’s a darn good idea! Hmmm…should I be thinking of this for my exchanges?

StartXchange’s version allows the surfer to not only see the member’s picture, but also to pm the member and bookmark their site in over 40 services. There is also another picture on the surfer, and this is the picture of the member who is ahead of you in rankings. It even tells you how many sites you need to surf to pass them and even pm them.

Hats off to Tim for taking a good idea and adding on more innovative features!

Traffic Showdown for sale

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Traffic Showdown is for sale because the owner is ill. They are asking $500 for it and you can contact them at admin@trafficshowdown.com.

The site requires work. They had just completed a redesign but the design only shows up on the home page, and the surf bar doesn’t carry the same theme. On the plus side, I have been a member of this site for a while and surf it once in a while. I like that they change the surf icons to match the seasons.

And as in any traffic exchange, new or bought, it will require commitment. So even though it’s tempting to buy a pre-made site, think of the time and/or money investment. Unlike an affiliate site where you simply send traffic and hope it converts, an exchange requires interaction with members and lots of promotion to keep it top of mind.
