How many times per week

How many times per week should traffic exchange owners send emails to their members? This topic has been hotly debated, and I just want to add my 2 cents.

Being able to send emails to members is a privilege, not a right. If feeling abused by the barrage of emails, the member can simply delete their account. I have heard some owners express that members who don’t like their emails should simply delete. I know that not all members will like your newsletters, no matter what they say, but when owners seem to have a disregard for their members’ opinions, it strikes a chord.

To me, it’s not necessarily the number of emails sent out a week that count, but the quality of what you are saying in your emails. I understand that exchange owners need to make a living, but I dislike being sent newsletters simply for this reason every single time. Some owners use their exchanges to simply sell products. I never see them promote their exchange or take the effort to create promotions and contests; they simply use the membership base as an email list.

Although I said it’s not the number that counts, I am taking note that some exchanges are sending out emails every day, and some are even sending several times a day. I am curious to see what others think of this practice, but I am starting to get annoyed. I like some of these owners, but please, please stop sending out emails several times a day–please. It’s gotten to the point when I don’t even read them. Yes, I can delete my account, but I don’t want to because I happen to like the exchange.

I do agree with you wholeheartedly on this and as an exchange owner myself I worry about whether I am sending too many emails and are my emails quality ones. Does my emails do anything to help my members? That’s what the bottom line is….our members.

We should never take advantage of our ability to mail our members. If we send out emails they should contain something that will benefit members. I hope if I ever get out of line with my emails that someone will tell me. And I hope it never comes to this. I do strive to please my members.

Owning and operating an exchange is not just about making money (in my opinion) but about networking and providing a quality service that results in a win/win situation for both admins and members.

I do hate getting tons of emails from exchange owners promoting the same thing. Especially when I get 50 emails from different exchanges all promoting the same new exchange launch.

Well, there’s my 2 cents. Thanks for this post. It had to be said.
